Cannabigerol (CBG) is often referred to as the “mother cannabinoid” because it serves as the precursor to most other cannabinoids. Discovered in the 1960s, CBG is present in young cannabis plants before it naturally converts into THC, CBD, or other cannabinoids.

CBG-rich strains are relatively rare, as most of this cannabinoid transforms into other compounds before the plant reaches maturity. However, selective cultivation has allowed for higher CBG yields. Unlike THC, CBG does not produce intoxicating effects but is valued for its uplifting and balancing properties.
